SLR cameras are constantly evolving every year. There are at least a dozen hot picks to suit shoppers’ tastes. Common features that buyers look at most often are resolutions whether low end at around 6MP for this year’s developments or high end at around 21MP and frame rate. Other features and offerings revisited specifically for professional photographers, however, include burst depth, AF and tracking speed, ruggedness especially for those interested in sports photography or are sports enthusiasts, viewfinder coverage, startup and mode switch times, viewfinder information, auto white balance system quality, ergonomics, and image stabilization. Although some of these are difficult to define since some features are different and some are about liking and choosing.
In a recent review, the Fuji SLR manufacturer made four cameras in the top ten based on reviews, choices of common shoppers, and most importantly, the value for money they offer. However, of the four Fuji SLR cameras, three are highly competitive over other SLR brands. The first is Fujifilm FinePix S9600 / S9100 – Digital Camera. This is a 9MP digital camera with a 10.7x optical zoom lens and a 2.0-inch (230,000 pixels) tilting LCD screen for easy high and low angle shooting. What made this a quick pick was the sharp screen feature that displays the resulting images with excellent clarity. The manual zoom ring gives you complete control when composing images. Plus, it has multi-frame bracketing, and is very responsive.
Its menus contain a lot of options to suit “artistic” photography. Its RAW format enables complete control over the final images. Its output gives excellent quality images from ISO 80 to 800 with low noise. And it has good battery life and AA size that never goes out of style in the market.
The second is Fujifilm FinePix F40fd. It is an 8MP version of the Fujifilm FinePix F31fd. The F40fd is a compact digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and a 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 36-108mm on a 35mm camera, and a large 2.5 inch screen. What makes this camera earn a good review is its large and sharp screen that displays the resulting images with excellent clarity, and it is also very responsive with its high speed mode.
This also has a lot of options to suit ‘art’ photography like it has a lot of scene modes to help ordinary people take better pictures not only that but it gives excellent quality images with very good colours. This also has good battery life (rated at over 300 shots). Instant Zoom mode helps to check sharpness and exposure right after taking the photo and with a good zoom control button. The sleek and stylish metal body adds to the elegance of this camera.
And the third is Fujifilm FinePix F480. This is a very compact 8.2MP wide-angle digital camera with a 4x optical zoom lens that’s equivalent to 28-112mm on a 35mm camera, and a 2.7-inch (230,000 pixels) LCD screen which also has an ISO range of 100 to 800. The F480 can record video at 320 x 480 at 30fps with audio. Things that make it a great choice are its screen. Its large 2.7-inch screen renders metallic images perfectly. The body makes this camera easy to use and elegant for evening parties.
